Beloit Church Dartball League

1999/2000 Annual Banquet Report

The Beloit Church Dartball League consisting of 18 teams from 12 churches held its 35th annual banquet at the Sun Valley Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, April 11, 2000. The meeting was opened with the invocation given by Rev. Ian Stirrat, pastor of the Sun Valley Presbyterian Church. Following a roast beef dinner, the annual meeting of the league was held and award presentations made.

The following guests, pastors of participating churches, were recognized; Rev. Dennis Pingel of Messiah Lutheran, Rev. William Wagner of St. Johns Lutheran, Rev. Randy Krause of Atonement Lutheran, Rev. Kurt Handrich of Calvary Lutheran, Rev. Ian Stirrat of Sun Valley Presbyterian and Rev. Amy Jameson of Common Ground Ministries.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of deceased members Bill Knapp (Atonement Rebels) and Bernie Moller (Atonement Rebels).

During the league business meeting, the following individuals were elected league officers for the coming year;

President, Dave Marquette of Messiah Chiefs
Vice President, Chris Rohde of Trinity Mighty Darts
Secretary, Tim Whitney of Sun Valley
Treasurer, Ron Mixon, Jr. of First Baptist
Historian, Gary Pankonien of Atonement Rebels
Public Relations, Dave Rounds of Atonement Rejects

The following awards were then presented:

2nd Place, Midwest League, Sun Valley
1st Place, National League, Our Saviors Vikings
2nd Place, National League, Atonement Rejects
1st Place, American League, Messiah Chiefs
2nd Place, American League, Atonement Rebels
Sportsmanship Award, St. John Jets

The Messiah Chiefs received the Norm Seigel Memorial Championship Trophy for defeating the New Hope Chicks in the best of 7 league championship series. Members of the Messiah Chiefs receiving individual championship trophies include team captain Brian Engleson, Ken Thompson, Carl Schliem, Jon Pingel, Jason Engleson and Dennis Voegeli. Members of the New Hope Chicks receiving individual second place awards include team captain Jack Pohl, Everett Oestreich, Jim Henz, Howard Cox, Dewayne Frye, Doug Henthorn, Gene Hunter and Mark Frye.

The following individual trophies were presented for outstanding performance during this season. These include:

Most Singles, 209, Ken Thompson of Messiah Chiefs
Most Doubles, 75, Jerry Murray of 1st Baptist
Most Triples, 128, Dan Alexander of Sun Valley
Most Home Runs, 11, Don Banker of Atonement Renegades
Runs Batted In, 127, Jon Pingel of Messiah Chiefs
High Average, 0.427, Terry Matulle of Our Saviors Vikings

Following the awards presentation and business meeting, the meeting was closed with the benediction given by by Rev. Ian Stirrat, pastor of the Sun Valley Presbyterian Church .

Any church interested in fielding a new team in the league for the 2000-2001 season should contact David Rounds at 365-3188 or by e-mail at drounds@jvlnet.com prior to the league organizational meeting to be held August 15, 1999 at Messiah Lutheran Church. The dartball season runs from the last week in September to mid - March with a two-week break at Christmas and a banquet held in late March or early April.
